It’s amazing to me the journey that photography has taken me on. It’s almost crazy. As a kid, I didn’t know what I wanted to be, that’s a question I always avoided. I had a love for computers and when the opportunity came, I pursued as career in it.
Fast forward 13 years I have a love for technology but want nothing to do with fixing/repairing computers, building/managing networks. It’s a great field and there are those in it that do awesome things. I’ve put down the screw driver and picked up a camera. Who’d have thought that?
From a child I had a fascination with planes. From my home in St. Lucia, I could see them going in to land in the distance. After moving to Barbados, we lived in the flight path. Once I heard a plane coming I would run to the window to watch them fly by. Seems silly to some but I wanted to capture it and share my love for them on social media. So I did. This had led me down paths which I never knew possible.
One of said paths led me to the very talented make-up artist, Sherryanne Moore. I have admired her work for a long time. Seeing other noted photographers display their work crediting her as the MUA. It was a real pleasure to meet the woman behind the business MakeupbySAM.
After meeting her along with model Kari McCarthy-Miller at a club photography event, we partnered up to work on a body paint art series, “Unpolished”. Her creativity and what she does with the human body as a canvas is remarkable.
Along with Nadia, was Marielle Wilkie, Miss Barbados 2012. She had me laughing so much while in studio, she is a personality onto her self. She definitely lights a room up. I still rewind and relive some of the moments that never made it on camera.
Watching Sherryanne work with these models, and what she was able to do with them, only shows some of the talent we have seen from her. I’m looking forward to seeing what else she does in the future and also what we can work on together.
