Tropical Surprise – Leon & Brittany Engagement

It’s the middle of December 2018 and I received an email. It was very simple and to the point.

Leon explained he was planning to surprise his lady with a proposal, listed the date and location and wanted a price.

It can’t be said how much I love capturing these moments when loved ones surprise each other.

At this point our conversation moved over to WhatsApp where we spoke and finalized the details and how it would work. Leon sent photos of himself and his lady and we were set.

Bright and early on Boxing Day, the sky is lovely the sun is shining and I am standing at the lovely Hunte’s Gardens before they are even opened to the public. The owner graciously let me in so that I can get myself setup as I wait for their arrival.

They arrive and I can see them making their way down.

We had to play this right, it’s myself and a friend and we are pretending to be tourists with our cameras taking random photos of flowers and statues.

Leon makes eye contact with me and Brittany has no idea, as I walk passed them, he asks, “where would be a nice place to go see flowers?” (this is Hunte’s Garden – there are nice flowers everywhere, I had to try hard not to laugh out lol).

Q (my friend ) and I are walking around but staying within range of them so whenever Leon bends the knee we can be close enough to capture the proceedings.

Brittany is oblivious to the signals that Leon is giving me and with her back turned Leon goes down to one knee. Brittany has a phone taking photos of flowers and has no idea he is behind her waiting.

To get her attention, he asks her to take a look at something and she slowly turns around and reality hits her. She is smiling and starts to get emotional it sets in. She stoops and is fighting the tears as Leon tries to console her.

She gets up and says, “YES! You didn’t even ask yet but YES”, Leon then asks her to marry him, they embrace and we had a wonderful photoshoot to follow.

Leon did great. One of my favourite things that happened was Brittany not believe that her mom kept the proposal secret from her.

It was awesome, just awesome being there to share and capture these moments.

Below are some photos from the engagement and a video of what went down.
